Roof Gutter Leaking

Your leak is a gutter problem if there is a clear issue with an element of the gutter system or definite water coming from the gutters end caps downspout or gutter seams etc.

For gutters to work properly they must be properly sloped toward the downspouts and the roof must have a drip edge that clears the sides of the gutters closest to the house. If the gutter is clogged some of that water will back up on the roof soaking it. When it rains water is supposed to roll down the side of your roof and into your gutters through the gutters to a downspout into the downspout and away from your home s foundation. Some of the water may leak behind the gutters down towards the soffit and the fascia.

If the leak is flowing water into your home through the ceiling and this area of water leakage is not near the eaves of your roof or your gutter system this is more. Repair a leak in a basically sound gutter easily by covering the damaged area with roof and gutter repair tape available at home centers and hardware stores. When water drips between the fascia and the gutters the problem could be a compromised drip edge but it s also possible the gutters are overflowing. Damage to the roof and fascia.

Lately whenever it rains water drips out of my house s gutters and onto the patio instead of out the downspout. Unfortunately it doesn t always work that way. Gutters are supposed to direct water away from your roof and into the ground. Is this something i can fix myself or do i need to replace my leaking gutters.
